A perfect beauty spa is still only a dream for most of us. At the end of a busy day, as we tidy up the place, sterilize our implements, shut down the accounting software and close the planner, we feel we would gladly experience ourselves any of the rejuvenating treatments offered to our clients. But the staff are leaving for the day, so we are left dreaming of an energizing facial or of a reflexology session so easy we could quickly apply it ourselves. If only a simple tool existed which we could carry with us and use over and over, while traveling, commuting, waiting in a doctor’s office or relaxing at home!

A perfect beautician’s tool, then, would have to be light, portable, energy-efficient, safe and affordable. In a perfect world, it would be powerful enough to address any and all skin problems and certain health concerns, whether they originate in heredity, lifestyle, diet, illness or emotions. As a bonus, it would even attract that particular demographics which favors ancient wellness methods over the state-of-the-art technology developed for the beauty industry and - never makes it to your spa. All in all, a perfect beauty spa would require nothing short of a crystal magic wand.

What would you do if you knew this magical tool was indeed available? Include it as a unique add-on to the wide range of treatments in your spa? Naturally. And, amazingly, you could use it at the end of any busy day, to administer a highly stimulating, yet relaxing and energizing facial to yourself. Although this concept may seem bold to many a beauty and wellness worker, looking after our own wellness should not be the last thing on our mind. All too often do we search for love outside of ourselves, focusing on helping and rescuing the world around us, neglecting our own emotional and physical well-being.

Color Light Therapy: History

Such a revolutionary tool exists indeed. The secret to its effectiveness is color light. Considered a novel concept, color light therapy has been with us for millennia. In ancient Egypt, the sunlight shining through the roof of diagnostic rooms was refracted through a prism into color of the spectrum and shone on patients. In ancient Greece, Heliopolis was a center of heliotherapy — a method of curing the ill by exposing them to the sun.

Sunlight can indeed help healing processes, not only through its well-documented antibacterial power, but also by simply emitting the full spectrum of visible light. If people benefit from UV and Ultra violet light in traditional medical applications, is it not conceivable that the visible‚ color frequencies in our spectrum may also have psychological and therapeutic effects?

However, we nowadays routinely substitute daylight with various types of artificial illumination — candlelight, gaslight, light from incandescent bulbs or fluorescent tubes. Our lives offer minimal exposure to sunlight. When we do venture outside, we continue to shield ourselves from the sole source of life in universe — sunlight — by wearing hats and long sleeves, by applying creams and staying in the shade as much as possible.

We consciously chose to live this unnatural life in artificial surroundings. We try to protect our skin and counter the harmful consequences of being in full sunshine for any extended period of time.

At the opposite end of the health-consciousness spectrum is insufficient exposure to sunlight. Lack of vitamin D, produced only in the skin exposed to sunlight, can lead to anemia, kidney or liver problems and depletion of body’s reserves of calcium, as it is vitamin D that regulates its production in our bodies.

Light, natural as well as artificial, contains color. Single color (or their combinations) make up beams of light. This is the basis of a whole new approach to health and well-being, which combines ideas of the Kabbalah and ancient Chinese medicine with the ability of modern technology to produce powerful, non invasive, yet simple-to-use color ray illuminators. And as a bonus, the color lens never need touch the skin as color rays projected are absorbed through ones‚ electromagnetic field, their aura. Therefore sterilization of the illuminator is eliminated in the clean-up process.

Based on experiments and cased studies performed around the world by early pioneers in color light healing, this technique was perfected in Europe through extensive research in the last three decades of the twentieth century.

The Light Within

From microcosm to macrocosm, everything in our universe spins and vibrates in perfect harmony in time and space. If we become sick, our normal state of vibration is disturbed. Simply put, we’ve energetically swung too far to the positive or too far to the negative energy poles.

To get healthy again, we have to restore our body back in balance to an active state of rhythm; its ideal state. We are not made up only of our physical bodies. Our physical bodies are the embodiment for the union of our mind, body and soul.

This is why certain "chemical applications" that treats solely the body is so often unsuccessful or the results are temporary. When we treat this whole union matrix of an individual, we can help reestablish the person’s primary vibration on all levels and we can lead the client to leap back to health, focusing on the goal a healthy being as it should be - not on the localized organic deviation. To radiate external beauty, one needs to also be healthy inside.

The present-day biophysics established that all living creatures are beings of light. And light when divided through a prism reveals our visible color in our spectrum. Within a living organism, information is communicated through color-coded broadcasts of faint light energy, emitted by cells. This system of internal light signals, generated within the DNA of each cell, is called bio-communications. Our bodies require External‚ natural color-light energy for this Internal‚ communication, as it is this stream that manages the maintenance, self-regeneration and reproduction on the cellular level. Simply put, without color-light-energy there would be no human, animal plant or mineral life on earth.

Groups of cells also create electromagnetic fields, which reflect the status of individual organs. These electromagnetic fields store current information and control how the body will grow and develop. The good news is: the information in these energy fields can be changed - reprogrammed - with simple applications of colored light.

Color Light Therapy: Present

In this type of color therapy, the esthetician or wellness practitioner, focuses colored beams of light onto specific spots on the client’s face or body, using a handheld color ray illuminator.

These spots or zones correspond to the traditional acupuncture points and other established grid systems on the skin. The esthetician uses the physical properties of color (i.e. their respective unique frequencies) to potentially achieve therapeutic effects on the physical, emotional and spiritual level. Each colored beam gets absorbed by the entire organism and can replenish the body's natural energy system by replacing scrambled information; energetic disharmonies in the cells, with new information.

Different color light protocols can remedy specific energetic disturbances with the frequency (i.e. color) which went "missing" through various pathological causes.

The noninvasive character of this alternative therapeutic method is based on self-healing - it fine-tunes the body to the pure color frequencies which are universal and restores harmony, which is health, a natural state of being. Color light therapy is becoming recognized worldwide for its noninvasive and gentle approach to beauty and wellness. While sessions can be performed almost anywhere, even in ones own home, the spa environment is, obviously, the ideal location.

Skin, a focal point of a multi-billion dollar industry Micro-dermabrasion units, photo-epilators, supersonic treatments, micro-lipo injections, hydrotherapy tubs when we use these technologically advanced tools, we implicitly treat the skin as an imperfect platform which we can improve by tackling its various layers, more or less invasively. We disregard the obvious question of why there are imperfections in it and we simply set out to remove them instead.

The alternative approach is to "read" these imperfections, understand the messages contained in them and help the skin mend them. A simple color light energizing facial is noninvasive and relaxing, while it nourishes every cell in the body. The range of its effects, even with a simplest application, might surprise you.

The skin is the largest organ in the body, and is the largest receptors of light. It is also exposed to all kinds of emissions from the outside world, not just the visible spectrum. It absorbs those influences we neither can see nor hear nor feel. It is a boundary of our body and it insulates us from the outer world. It also constantly echoes the effects of both worlds, the inner world of our organism and the outer world of our planet’s atmosphere. It’s a sophisticated communication tool between these two worlds.

There are many reflex zones on a human face that register disharmonies in the body, which sometimes lead to illness and disorders.

These zones do not only reflect the conditions at the organic level, but also mirror our emotional imbalances.

In Europe doctors study physiognomy to assist in diagnosing the patients‚ illness from a physiological and psychological point of view. Similar to the study of Chinese medicine, this can take years of study to perfect. Here are some basic physiognomy observations; these are especially helpful when observing someone’s face prior to a color light facial*.

The face is divided into 13 sections, called reflex zones. During the energizing color light facial, specific color light beams are applied to these zones in a particular manner and sequence.

The technique is quite simple - color light is steadily shone on the face from the distance of a couple of inches. This revolutionary technique works in all energetic levels of the person, namely, across the mind-body-soul matrix. The forehead is divided into four sections. The lower region duplicates the digestive and respiratory system; the middle mirrors our nervous system; the upper strip is a window into the circulatory & excretory systems; our temples reflect the spleen, pancreas, liver and gallbladder.

We begin by shining the turquoise light steadily between the eyebrows and then progress with red light in the upper section, yellow in the middle and by stroking a soothing blue beam above the eyebrows. This combination strengthens, activates mental powers and instills peace and serenity. Big bushy eyebrows indicate vitality and a good immune system. The eyebrows also reflect the digestive and nervous systems.

Vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows towards the eyes indicate a disturbance between the liver and gallbladder. Deeper wrinkles between the eyes and the nose relate to spleen/pancreas. Similarly, wrinkles or swellings on the left side of the eyes indicate disturbances of the pancreas or the spleen. This side of the eye also indicates a weakening of the immune system.

The swellings just below the upper eyelid indicate problems with the bladder, while a swelling approximately 1 cm under this zone refers to kidney malfunction.

Dark rings under the eyes indicate exhaustion of strength. By shining the yellow light above and the complementary violet ray under the eyes, we can help release accumulations of toxins in the lymphatic system by stroking from the inner towards the outer edge.

Deep creases from nose to mouth - known as furrows show disturbances in the stomach and large intestines. If they do not run past the corner of the mouth, this indicates stomach strains or strains to the upper abdomen.

Vertical wrinkles between the nose and the upper lip show tension and strains in the sexual sphere. Horizontal wrinkles above the upper lip indicate some sexual weakness in men and menstrual difficulties in women. The lower chin region mirrors the condition of the ovaries and testicles; when it swells or has blemishes, this is a strong indication a hormonal problem exists. By shining a green light on the area above the upper lip, we can unlock the lymph flow and redress the hormonal imbalance.

The lower cheek region can convey the quality of digestion. If nutrition is utilized well, this zone has a firm look. The outer cheek area the region of the cheekbone — reflects the constitution of the pancreas if swellings and redness are noticeable here, this indicates a malfunction in this organ.

The mouth shows the condition of the entire digestion tract. If a yellowish-brownish discoloring is found in the corners of the mouth, this indicates some liver weakness or the presence of a serious vitamin deficiency. Lip sizes out of a normal range or visible changes on them over time indicate problems. If the upper lip is enlarged, this reflects problems with the stomach and the large intestine. Enlarged lower lip mirrors small intestines. If the edge of lip is too large, this is a sign of chronic constipation. Corners of the mouth show the condition of the duodenum. Light is never shone directly into the mouth, but a circular motion with a blue light can considerably reduce the stomach problems.

The bridge of the nose is also described as the axis of the soul. This area reflects disturbances along the spine. The tip of the nose reflects possible problems with the heart function. Sides of the nose and the nostrils mirror the condition of the lungs. By shining the turquoise light down the nose from the forehead to the mouth, we help open the breathing passageways.

During the facial, your client might express the release of suppressed memories through laughter or outbursts of tears or they might just fall asleep. This happens because the cells are able to release their heavy energetic burden of unhealed wounds. A complete color light facial session can last between several seconds and 20 minutes; the results will vary and depend on several factors, all of which are easy for the therapist to adjust and experiment with.

The energizing color facial is only one of many available techniques of color light therapy. Other procedures exist, which address common cold or flu symptoms, circulation problems, migraine, jet lag, urinary tract disturbances, stomach upset, depression, etc. Sessions designed to counter effects of stress in men are becoming increasingly popular. One of the reasons this therapeutic modality is quickly obtaining a strong following is the fact that patients do not have to disrobe. Layers of clothes do not reduce the effectiveness of light; it penetrates the eyes and the skin without hindrance. This adds to the convenience and ease of offered treatments.

The field of color light therapy and its practical applications has exploded in the recent years. The Internet currently holds over 60,000 pages on the topic, ranging from offers of full-spectrum bulbs for homes and offices to treatises on therapeutic tools for injured racing horses.

Different color light illuminators exist in the market, each adapted to various methods and levels of therapy. Some are handheld units, ideal for those estheticians, reflexologists, aromatherapists, make-up artists, health care professionals & color light enthusiasts who wish to try their hand at this revolutionary technique.

The desktop models, which are compact and portable, and wall-mounted models, which can cast color rays up to 15 feet, are designed for relaxing color baths in spas, health care facilities, retirement homes, institutions and corporate Quiet rooms reception areas & any workplace in need of regular soothing color light sessions. Color & sound saunas, portable and easy to assemble, are designed with the privacy and quietude of a Cushioned‚ solar sauna in mind, for high-end spa facilities.

The most important feature of any series of illuminators is the set of filters made of crystal. The best tools come equipped with seven color lenses (yellow, orange, red, green, blue, violet and turquoise) whose ray emission offers unmatched purity of color.

Color light therapy, using any of the available products, is a revolutionary approach to health, wellness and beauty. The treatments are convenient, suitable for use in homes, at work and even in the smallest of health care or spa facilities.

As versatile as it is, color light allows people to benefit on many levels: from simple relaxation to rejuvenation, to relief of acute pain, to treatment of chronic ailments, to entire emotional and spiritual makeovers.

Totally noninvasive in all of its many variations, the color light therapy eliminates any fear from infections of those treated or indeed of those who perform treatments. With minimal investments in time and resources needed, it takes us all one step closer to a perfect spa.
